Jim Amorinhas served in a variety of capacities with the Appraisal Institute over the last two decades starting his service on the national board of directors in 2004. He has served 2 terms as national president both in 2009 and again in 2017. He has served on a variety of committees for the Appraisal Institute including chairing the Audit Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee.

In terms of education, Jim is a national instructor for various seminars and courses for the Appraisal Institute and has developed multiple seminars, numerous webinars, and acted as a reviewer on dozens of Appraisal Institute offerings.

Jim has testified before Congress twice, has presented to the United Nations on real estate issues and is often quoted in the press including CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, Market Watch, Bloomberg News, and numerous newspapers across the country.

Jim was the former chair Appraisal Institute Relief Foundation and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Appraisal Foundation. Jim also serves on the Board of Directors of The Residential Energy Services Network or RESNET, a not-for-profit, membership corporation founded to develop a national market for home energy rating systems and energy efficient mortgages. RESNET is a recognized national standards-making body for building energy efficiency rating and certification systems in the United States.

Jim holds degrees in finance and real estate and urban land development from the University of Texas at Austin.
